dircache activation suggestion

enabling the dircache requires a reboot. why not having instead of the reboot-necessary-msg a dialog like: "press navi to save current config and reboot"?
that would be really convenient

Please don't post just to bump your own thread. Firstly, the forums aren't the place for feature requests. Secondly, I don't really see the point of it, overall.

it happens quite often that the dircache is not working/initializd while updating to a new build (yes, the official one) after resetting the settings, goin to the menue to disable dircaching again it needs loads of clicks to reset. just one would be just very convenient
btw wheres the place for feature requests?

How many buttons does it take to turn off your player? Mine only requires one...
As for where, I would start with the "Feature Requests" link that's on nearly every page of the site.

turning the player on and off is the worst way since its not that good for the device. just a neat and quick software-reset would be fantastic

These devices are *designed* to be turned off and on.
What exactly are you doing that takes multiple buttons, then, if you aren't turning it off?

ask the technical guys, switching on any device is the most critical thing that can happen to electronic devices
save the config-file/leaving the settings menu/goin to .rockbox/rockbox.player

What does "most critical" have to do with "being bad for it"?
Why not instead file bug reports on what causes dircache to fail so that it can be *fixed*?

Bug reports and feature requests go to the tracker. It says this in our forum posting guidelines... Have you read them?
