Please try reading the Rockbox manual before asking questions like this, our forum guidelines require it and many common questions are answered there.

It's in the manual. The PDF manual. It's also on the PluginDoom page in the wiki.

 Install rockdoom.wad

Create a directory called /.rockbox/doom/ on your player (i.e. F:\.rockbox\doom\ for Windows users - where F: is the drive letter for your DAP) and save the following file in that directory:

    * rockdoom.wad: rockdoom.wad. ---

this does not help me at all

Alright, it doesn't help you. Why doesn't it help you? If you don't understand it, I can't psychically know which part of it you don't understand.

Please ask specific questions.

Please read the full instructions in the PDF manual. You need at a minimum two .wad files in that folder. Rockdoom.wad, and a real one from a copy of the game that you own.

THE MANUAL. Look on the left side of ANY page on our site, where it says "Manual"

Seriously, how did you install the software without reading the manual?

Then use the HTML-zip or the Online version. It's the same document. It's "The Manual".

I've checked what it says, and it very clearly tells that you need to create the folder, among other things, and save certain files into that folder.

What files did you copy, to where *exactly*, and what exactly is the error message you get?

You *can't* do what's in the manual different ways. There's only one thing to do: copy certain files to a certain place and then run the plugin. If you think there's room for interpretation, please tell me what these seven things you tried are so that I can fix the manual to be more clear.
