*Sigh*

It's not bricked.

Get a wall charger for it, leave it charging overnight. Turn it on.

We have had numerous issues with people's computers not supplying enough voltage through their usb ports. Wall chargers are more reliable.

i figured this could be the problem but i used a wall charger and it went pop and now it doesn't work, the charger that is. so then i thought the ipod had a hardware problem.

Well it's *possible* it made something in the iPod go pop too - but I'd still bet the fuse saved it. See if you can find another one - and try a different wall outlet - one that doesn't make things go pop. :)

i fear the ipod could be damaged as it wasn't an genuine apple charger. i must have plugged the ipod into the usb for about 8 hours surely this should be enough to power it up.

Well if you really believe you've damaged the hardware, the only way to tell is to take it to an apple dealer.

Depends on the PC, the USB cable and whether you've really fried your ipod or not.

Technically yes - but so far most users have been lucky, and Apple have nevered bothered checking.

No more than any other sort of usage.

The only way we know of that anyone has managed to brick their iPod is by hard reseting their iPod during an apple firmware upgrade. This is of course nothing to do with Rockbox.

If you're truly managed to brick yours too (and I still doubt it) then you're only the second person we know of to do it, and it's still nothing to do with Rockbox, it's your dodgy wiring/charger.
