Rockbox always reboots into diskmode (iPod Nano)

Often when you just pull the cable out in disk mode it shows that weird empty battery icon then the screen goes blank. The problem with this is the player is still on and draining the battery but looks like it is turned off. When you try to use it the next day the battery is flat.

What you are describing here is a defect in APPLE's firmware. This is in no way related to Rockbox, other than at the moment Rockbox relies on Apple's disk mode.

However, I just discovered a somewhat similar behaviour on my Sansa.
I plugged in the USB plug while holding down the center button. Rockbox continued to operate as normal, but a few seconds later playback stopped and the USB plug icon was displayed on screen. ???

I hate to say "me too", but I'm having the same behavior with the current Rockbox build (2007-06-18) on my iPod Video 60GB. I have to hold down the Menu button for an inordinately long amount of time until the "USB Device not Recognized" message comes up on my WinXP machine.
psycho_maniac:
Having same problems with my ipod video 80gb
GodEater:
*Not* having the same issue with the 80GB 5.5G that I own.
Just hold menu for a *long* time people - about 10 seconds or so while you plug in the USB cable. Make sure all the Rockbox threads have had time to be notified that there's a USB connection, but that it's ok - menu was being held.
I tested this with a build from yesterday, and it worked perfectly every time.
