HELP! Did the bootloader destroy my player?

(1/1)

herrlumpi:
Hi there!
I got a H300 and just put the rockbox bootloader on. When i tried to start it up again to put the ".rockbox" file on the harddisk, i couldn't start it again!
I can see the rockbox firmware starting up, but the player can't start up, it shuts down some seconds later. I tried to press the record button while starting up, but it doesn't change a thing, the original firmware won't load.

The only thing i still can is connecting the device to my computer - the player shows "Bootloader USB mode". But i can't get it to be displayed in windows, apparently because it has to start up first to do so...

I am very afraid i destroyed the player. Please tell me i didn't, its not mine!

nls:
Make sure that you hold down the play/on button long enough when you try to start the OF.
Try tapping the play/on button several times
Try connecting the charger, this should start the OF.

The USB bootloader mode should work without rockbox working, even if it wasn't installed at all.
What I recommend is if you can't start the OF try connecting to other coputers.

Didgeridoohan:
Do you have time to see if you get any error messages before it shuts down? More precisely something like "Error: -1". If you get this everything is normal. You get that if you have installed the bootloader but no build.

Pressing the rec button is not enough, you need to press and hold it, then press play and keep holding the rec button until the OF starts.

There is a problem with the USB bootloader mode though... Some people (me included) have never been able to get it working. It is a known problem and has apparently been fixed in the sometime to be released new bootloader.

herrlumpi:
thanks guys, i got it working  :D
i had to press the play button longer to start the OF. Then it was no problem to put the rockbox folder on and use rockbox.
Thank you so much!
