Sansa: Screen whitening bug still not completely fixed (?)

(1/4) > >>

Vortex:
Hi everyone,

after using the Sansa for a whole week without problems, my screen just now suddenly became white, then turned to blue/black.

It looks exactly the same as before the patch that said to hopefully fix the "melting screen".

Apparently the bug is still not completely fixed. It was the first occurence in a whole week, though.

Llorean:
Did you compile a new bootloader and installed it (a bootloader newer than when that change was added, specifically).

I'm not sure but it seems to me like that sort of change would affect the bootloader rather than the build.

Vortex:

How do I know whether the change affected the bootloader?

And how do I update the bootloader (I can't find this information in the manual)?

Do I really have to compile it myself? Are the precompiled versions too old?

Llorean:
I don't know if it affected the bootloader. If it did, yes, the current one would be out of date. You'd need to compile your own, then use sansapatcher to add it to your sansa. Run sansapatcher --help to get instructions for how to use it with external bootloader files.

JdGordon:
I dont tihnk a new bootloader was needed, but i've attached a new one for you (built from svn)

install it with sansapatcher -a PP5022.mi4.bin

if sansaptacher refuses, then rename it to .mi4 first
