How to make a bootloader
« on: June 05, 2007, 08:36:33 AM »
i have seen many videos where the people's ipod shows a blue screen and asks which os to boot into.
Apple os, Rockbox.
I wanna know how to make that menu or at least download it.
I have 5.5g ipod 80gb and apple os and rockbox installed.

That would most likely be the Loader2 from the ipodlinux project. It is capable of booting rockbox, however it is not officially supported over here. Head over to the ipodlinux website and read up on it.

However if you are just looking to boot your Apple firmware once in a while, know that the rockbox bootloader does that if you turn on the hold switch while it is booting.

Yes I do know that but and I even tried to use loader 2 but it still didn't work.
Any way or method to use it?

I hope i am not breaking any rules. ::)

Installing Loader2 is not to be discussed here. There is a thread in the Unsupported Builds forum about that, that's the right place.

Anyway, you can boot Rockbox, IPL and AppleOS with the Rockbox bootloader just fine. The Rockbox bootloader just doesn't have a menu -- do you *really* need a menu? I never missed one.

how do you boot ipodlinux

Assuming you mean using the Rockbox bootloader, hold down play when you power on your iPod.

please search the website yourself before asking. This is described in the manual. Also, please respect out posting guidelines. Posting in an unrelated topic isn't a good idea.
