Problems: Iriver H10 RockBox R13548; No Dual Boot? WinXP can't sync / see USB?

(1/3) > >>

DrivingAnalytical:
Hi;
I've just installed RockBox R13548 / 070603 from files I downloaded today. It plays OK from the database, but when I tried to synchronise the H10 with WMP 10, I found that Win XP / SP2 couldn't recognise the H10.

I then tried to dual boot back to the old iRiver firmware, but it will only boot into the RockBox firmware. I can't make out the splash screen that shows up between the initial iRiver 1.10 boot screen and the RockBox screen, but it doesn't seem to contain error messages, just what looks like version info..

Given that I can't get into USB mode, I seem to be stuck without a way back...
Any suggestions?
Thanks...

No, I'm not just "talking to myself"...  ;)

I've managed to get a successful Dual Boot back to the original firmware by holding the 'Cancel' button down with the power button... 'Minor' error in the doco?

That's progress: it's in MTP mode and so I've got WMP doing the sync to add some recently recorded tracks... I'm still worried about being able to get it into UMS mode, just in case I need to update / remove RockBox...

Talking to myself again... time for the men in white coats?    :)

The sync has finished OK and I've managed to get the player connected in UMS mode, so I guess all's well that ends well...

Just a doco change required...

Stuart Morrow:
Yeah, I got the same thing, I didn't realise that it was power + cancel until I read it here though.

Lol, whenever I tried the dual boot according to the manual, my first panicky thought was "Oh crap, the /System/OF file and the /System/H10_20GC file must both be the same file by my accident!".

What a relief. ;)

Strange enough, but even holding Cancel (assuming it's the left arrow button) and Power together, doesn't boot anywhere except for the selfsame Rockbox.
Actually, I tried holding all of the buttons and pressing Power (sequentially and combining - all variants), all to no avail.

Just to be sure we're on the same page; what I do is
1. Press and hold down Cancel (while H10 is switched off)
2. W/out releasing it press Power and hold 2 secs or so
3. Iriver logo is shown (I release Power or hold it still - doesn't matter) and I still hold Cancel pressed.

the original firmware now renamed to OF.mi4 residing in /system folder is intact. It has NO attributes like hidden,archive,read-only. Likewise the system folder is stripped of any attributes.

Am I missing any hidden knowledge of voodoo-type manipulations to get my h10 to boot back to iriver firmware. Please, help me.
I sense this problem is experienced by many.
