codec failure on IPOD video 30GB

Hello,
I have installed the rockbox firmware for the first time yesterday on my "old" ipod 5g (30gb).
well everything (well, games at least) runs smoothly besides that I am no able to play any kind of audio (tried mp3 wav m4a flac) files. I mean, they play but sound is awful. Full of static, clicks etc.

The error is "codec failure" and then "couldn't load codec /.rockbox/codecs/m'a.codec".
I noticed the mispell in the codec while in the .rockbox/codecs there is mpa.codec.

I have tried buth audio files from the database and also by putting files directly into the ipod in drive mode. Needless to say that codecs are in the right place and that original firmware plays audio files correclty.

Any possible reason for that?
Thanks in advance

Hmm, that rockbox can't load the codec is indeed strange...
I'm just guessing but you could try these two things:

1) Scan the disk of the ipod with scandisk, chkdisk or an equivalent disk error scanning software.

2) Copy over a new build of rockbox overwriting the old one and make sure that you unmount/eject/safely remove the ipod before unplugging it.

Thanks for the reply.
Scandisk/chkdsk is clean, and so is the unmount procedure.
Unfortunately I do not see any improvement.

Chronon:
Sometimes settings become inconsistent between  builds.  Have you cleared your settings recently?  If that doesn't help you might delete your current build and download a new one rather than overwriting the files.

elpibe69:
Always done that.
No results though...

I am starting to believe that my ipod hates rockbox >:(
