Playing music bought from iTunes store in Rockbox

(1/2) > >>

Gasha:
]I've recently downloaded Rockbox, and first I have to say, great program. However, one thing bothers me. having bought some music from the iTunes store, I found that Rockbox was unable to play these files. So, just wondering, is there any plugin or anything that makes it able to play that kind of files, or will I have to use the dual-boot function each time I want to listen to one of those songs?

Febs:
Rockbox cannot play DRM protected files.  Most iTunes songs still include DRM protection.  If you buy from (or upgrade to) non-DRM iTunes Plus songs, they will play in Rockbox, but any other purchased songs will not.

Gasha:
Right... Thanks for the info, guess I'll just change to the normal iPod firmware via the dual-boot when I wish to play them, then.

hotwire:
There of course is the option to strip the drm from your itunes music.

Of course that option is of unclear legal status, and last I checked, Rockbox doesn't necessarily condone that sort of thing.

GodEater:
Choosing to strip the DRM measures from music files you've bought anywhere is something Rockbox doesn't care about one way or the other.

What we *do* care about it, is posting here, telling people how to do it. That's a no-no.
