Okay....5G 30gig iPod Video won't work.

(1/1)

iPodHacker:
Okay, I install Rockbox in my "ipod_control" folder.  I use the bootloader, everything like that, then I unplug my iPod and start it.  After it loads up, it gives me this error message.

Rockbox boot loader
Version: 1.1
IPOD version: OxFFFFFFFF
TOSHIBA MK3008GAL
Partition 1: 0x0B 28521 MB
Loading Rockbox...
Error!
Can't load rockbox.ipod:
File not found
Hold MENU......you know the buttons and crap.

So I can't do anything with my iPod and have to take it apart and shutdown the battery.  And then I deleted Rockbox and now I want to know what my problem was so I can avoid it next time.

Thanks, iPodHacker

Llorean:
Well, the manual doesn't say to install to the ipod_control folder, and you can restart your iPod by holding Menu+Select, unplugging the battery isn't necessary.

iPodHacker:
Every time I restart it, I get the same message.

As Lllorean already told you, this is wrong.  Don't install to the ipod_control folder.  Install to the root folder, as the manual describes.

Reboot into disk mode by pressing and holding Menu+Select, and then, as soon as the iPod boots, pressing and holding Select+Play.  Then install a Rockbox build to the correct location.
