IPod 3G - Does anybody acutally use it?
(1/1)
shawn_:
Does anybody actually use the Ipod 3G port of ROCKbox? I just tried it and its soo unstable that its unusable. It randomly freezes all the time while in the music database and playing normal mp3 files. I just want to know if there is anybody using it with more success than me or if this port is pretty much useless?
saratoga:
I don't think anyone ever worked on the 3G port. Its basically a straight port of ipodlinux's code from 18 months ago with some minor changes to fix the sound (last summer) and to get it to work with the coprocessor (last winter).
Dwyloc:
I believe the crashes are caused by the CPU scaling and just running the player at a fixed clock rate makes it a lot more stable, my brother used his under rockbox for a while before upgrading to an iPOD video when the battery failed.
mp3 playback is also helped alot by one of the patches in the patch tracker http://www.rockbox.org/tracker/task/6705
So if you don't mind making your own build you may be able to make the 3G usable under rockbox.
