Goldeneye wad
« on: June 02, 2007, 10:22:25 AM »
Ok, so I'm pretty new to rockbox and until now I had no problem at all with it but today, I started installing new WADs for Doom. One of those I installed was Goldeneye. The first time I tried it, it worked just fine (I even completed 2 levels) but then I went on trying other WADs until I finally found all the ones I wanted to keep. But now, when I try to load Goldeneye to play it, it starts fine, but then it shows the line: "Loading DEH file (WAD)" and just stops there and I have to reboot.
-By the way I have a 5.5g 80gig video iPod and the WAD I took is called "zgold64.wad"
Hope someone can help because I want this game REALLY bad!!

There are still quite a few bugs in the dehacked loader.  Actually you're the first person I have seen that has asked a question regarding a problem with it.  Could you point me to where you found the wad.  I would like to test it on my system to see if I can reproduce the problem and possibly fix the bug.

I found the wad on "http://goldeneye.newdoom.com/download.shtml" and like I said, the one I took was "zgold64.zip", which contains "zgold64.wad". I tried the other ones but they all have one wad for the levels and one for the graphics and I can only load one at a time on my iPod so I think this is the only one that will work. If you need more info just ask I'm almost always on my computer.

Should be fixed in the latest SVN builds.  I only tried the first level.  As a note, this wad still uses some features that rockdoom does not support as it is targeted for zdaemon (rockdoom is based on prboom and will support wads that follow the basic geneology chart on the bottom of this page: http://www.doomworld.com/10years/ports/ports02_2.php - you can still run wads from other ports though depending on what features they use).  It seems to work well enough regardless as long as you don't let it try and play a demo.

Ok thanx...but what is a SVN build and how do I install it? I saw on the main page of the site that I can download some files but I can't find what to do with them. (Sorry I'm new to all this stuff)
