Whats the difference between...
« on: June 02, 2007, 03:22:06 AM »
the WPS Gallery in the WIKI and rockbox-themes.org...

Or better asked: Why are there two official hosting places for themes?

the people who set up themes.org didn't like the wiki page I think they felt the need to patch rockbox to make some of the themes work would frustrate newcomers who would find the downloaded theme would not work.
On their site its very clear what build you need to use the displayed theme whether this is any easier or not for a newcomer is moot I think
And on a personal note I run both the album art patch FS#3045 - Album art display on WPS and the ipod battery fix FS#7216 - Correction for iPOD Video/Nano battery type and consumption on my player.

Hmm, ok... but it looks (quite) official because of the design and implemantation of th rockbox navi. But their sit is quite better than structured in comparison to the wiki theme pages. Good work.

rockbox-themes.org looks so official because it's (was?) a beta for a new theme section of the wiki.

I personally prefer it.

errr ... rockbox-themes works completely different than the wiki, so it can't be some beta for a new theme section in the wiki. Simply because it technically won't work moving that way to the wiki.

Sorry, typing faster than I'm thinking.  You are correct, it isn't (wasn't?) a beta for a new wiki layout, but it was a possible replacement for the wiki layout we have now.
