GodEater:
How can you switch to the Apple OS if you were never using the database ?

Did you have two copies of your music on the iPod ?

dip:
I had the freezing problem once with my iPod 5.5G 80GB. It was freezing during playback of an ogg file. The only unusal thing I recognized was that the ogg file was over 10 minutes in length which is unusual for my music (and yes, I use the database).

But I had "freezing" my iPod already several times not during playback but during it was turned off. That means when I tried to turn it on it did not react (except on pressing Menu und Select to reboot). Sometimes when trying to turn on I guess I saw a battery symbol (or a similar icon) centered in the middle of the screen only for a split second (but without the display light turned on) and then the iPod was dead and I had to reboot. Since the display light was not turned on it was hard to recognize and I may have missed it sometimes.

I don't know if this is related to the originally reported freezing problem but the shown (battery) symbol may give an indication in the direction of the bug.

cool_walking_:
I also get the issue that dip described. I don't think it's related though, because I almost always get that issue, but I still haven't had the original issue (the one this thread is relating to) for a long time.  I was using the database for a short time a long time ago. I can't remember if the freezing was happening when I was using the database. I'll start using the database and see if it happens again.
