iRiver H320 Booting with Rockbox
« on: May 30, 2007, 07:03:56 PM »
After modifying 1.29k and flashing it (with all the rockbox files located on the player), my H320 will no longer boot.  If I press the reset button and then press on, it comes up, but I don't want to always have to have a pin on hand to turn on my player.  I can go back to the old firmware if needed, so Rockbox has in no way permanently damaged my player, but I'd really like to have a working version of Rockbox on my player without requiring me to reset the iRiver whenever I want to use it.

This sounds like a hardware issue, unfortunately.

That was the conclusion I came to when I tried Rockbox earlier.  Oh well.  It does seem somewhat odd that the iRiver firmware has no such trouble booting.

That sounds strange. If it's a hardware issue you should experience it using the Iriver firmware too -- have you tried flashing the old firmware back? And if you did, do you have the same issue? Turning on the player itself is not a Rockbox issue as that is controlled by hardware. IIRC there was a similar issue here some time ago, you might want to search for it.

I was the one with that issue before.  I was unable to resolve it.  It seems that I just have an H320 with a defect that doesn't manifest with the iriver firmware.

I too am experiencing the same problem with a H320 attempt to rockbox.

It had the US 1.04 firmware originally, which I first updated to the 1.29KR firnware (patched with the bootloader, ofcourse)

I can't power up the player once it's shut down. I have to press the reset button before I can boot.

I'll try other firmware (perhaps 1.28K or even the japan verison) and try again ...

EDIT:  After a little searching on the forums .. I found the answer ... I had to flash the firmware twice ... all's well now ....
