Rockbox Menu Layout
(1/1)
vix:
Tried searching for this with no little luck.
I have an Ipod Video that I use to run one of the older Rockbox's on, don't recall what build since I had to format it just today. I reinstalled rockbox and grabbed the latest build, boot up, and find a whole new layout.
What I was wondering is, how easy (or possible) is it to get the old Rockbox menu back. By old menu I mean, when you boot up you are at / in the file tree. Yes, I'm aware there is an option in settings for "Start Menu" but I don't want this because when I'm browsing through the menus and am hitting "Back..back..back" to move up the tree it will bring me back to this new "main menu" and won't stop at the top of the tree like it did in the old setup.
So, is there any way to get rid of the main menu and return to just displaying / (root)? Or am I going to have to load up an older build instead?
Thanks

The only way to get the old behaviour is to use an old version of Rockbox.
Have you tried holding down the left button instead of pressing it repeatedly - that should cause the file browser to stop in the root directory.

Wasn't there are VERY similar question just recently on the forums? ;)
Anyway, holding down the left button instead of repeatedly pressing it is definitely a good idea.

I don't browse the forums daily so I wouldn't know.
I never knew about the holding down the button function, thats something new to me. Though, it flies through the menus, but that may be a setting I changed and just don't realize it.
Either way, at what build did the new layout system come in?
Thanks

From the Major Changes wiki: 2007-02-08: Beginning of the conversion to the new menu system
so anything from Feb 7 or earlier would have the old style menus
