iPOD 5th generation - Key-lock

Dwyloc:
@Osiris

Do you have an 80GB ipod video by any chance as I have been seeing similar problems with mine under rockbox.

I have never had any problems under the retail OS with my player but under rockbox sometimes the UI locks up for a while.

Music will continue playing and using the click wheel results in the back light coming on then going back off after a few seconds as normal, but other than that pressing buttons has no effect and the WPS stops updating the clock and other information.  After a few minuets the display will start updating again rockbox will start responding to key presses again.

As I always boot into the retail OS before connecting the USB cable I don't think the problem is USB related.

Dwyloc:
Well it looks like some of my GU lockups maybe related to the 80GB iPods very slow disk access combined with updating the database in background, while trying to interact with my player.

This may also explain why I never see the same problem with my iPod nano running rockbox or on my 80GB Ipod video under the retail OS.

Audio also stops at the same time as the UI locks up if I try to skip back to a previous track in the play list while the database is updating in background, It I try to skip backwards before the player finishes buffering the music.

raab:
I'm also experiencing lockups in the now playing screen regardless of whether or not I have the keylock off. I can replicate this all the time, regardless of what song is playing the ui will lockup round the 3rd or 4th song. The music will continue playing and key presses bring the backlight on but can't do anything so have to reboot. I'm not running any themes and running r13548-070603

raab:
I'm wondering if it's something to do with default rockbox theme as I installed the dark geek theme, modified it a little to suit, and my 80g hasn't locked up once with and without the keylock on. So that may make it easier to narrow down the issue, who knows.

GodEater:
I think it might be useful for people to mention what EQ settings, or other DSP effects (e.g. ReplayGain, Crossfeed etc.) they have turned on too.

The *only* DSP effect I bother using is Crossfeed, and I've not had my iPod lock up on me once - no matter what theme I've been using.
