Database problem on x5l
« on: May 28, 2007, 05:09:11 AM »
I have rockbox set up very much to my liking, but I have one very large issue.

When I connect my x5l to my computer and erase or add folders and files, no matter how many times I update that database on the player, I will still have old songs listed on there. I have double and triple checked that these files aren't actually on the drive, but they are still always found in the database, along with whatever I've added.

I just tried deleting the .tcd files to force a full rescan, but even that came up with the old files.

the extremely weird part is, if I remove a folder and the database finds it... I can still play the song. this is even when browsing by FILES does not.

anyone have any experience with this problem?

Usually this means that the files still exist in your recycle bin.

alright, that helped for one, but I also have one artist whose tags I changed, but never actually deleted, so it's not in my recycle bin.

I'm going to try completely erasing and re-adding this artist.

thanks very very much, this was driving me nuts.

edit - that worked. thanks again! rockbox now 100% working for me!

yes I've had this problem before, it can be very frustrating

the best way of dealing with it is play all of the duplicate files, then to look at the id3 properties. It will tell you the physical location of each track on the drive, usually you will find some in the recycle bin (or .trash for Ubuntu).
