Not turning on?
(1/1)
Dark:
So i was using my ipod with rockbox on it and i think the battery hit 9% life so i shut it down, or it shut down or something but it gave me a warnning saying battery life low. So i plug it into my computer with the hold botton on. I notice that my PC doesnt recognize it and that my ipod is stuck on the apple screen so i unplug it and turn off hold and plug it back in, except this time nothing happens. It wont turn off, wont show up on my pc and i cant tell if its charging or not. I also cant turn it on.
Any idea?

The Short: your battery is dead, you need to use a wall charger
The Long:
Your battery is dead; for your iPod to charge through USB, it first needs to boot to disk mode which means it needs enough battery to turn on, boot the disk mode firmware and then it can start charging. Since your battery is dead, your iPod can't boot into disk mode and therefore cannot charge through USB. What you need to do is use a wall outlet to charge it; I think the reason for this is because when connecting a USB cable, it thinks that you want to transfer songs etc. and not charge, so your iPod is trying to get to disk mode. When you plug in a power cable, it doesn't think it's USB so it just charges.
hope that helps ;)
