EvilG's WPS bugfixes
« on: May 26, 2007, 03:54:01 PM »
I will be posting all my WPS bugfixes to this location:
http://www.mediafire.com/?sharekey=0eb8b8b7b2ca410d297a0211fc2927a579135126d265f324

If you have a specific unlicensed WPS that no longer works (WPS parser errors), RTC code errors and you can't contact the author to get it fixed, you can post it here. I will upload all fixed themes to the above link (the full zip with the corrected .wps file) if the license allows for it, I will upload of course put on the wiki as well.

I'm doing this because I know a lot of people use rockbox for the themes, I'm one of them, and since I've been making my own I've become familiar with WPS code and the usual errors that occur.

If I've updated a theme, I will put a link to it in the theme's description on the wiki.

hello evilg

i downloaded your newest build rotated for my gigabeat f40 and your modified jclix wps. i changed it with .rockbox_1 but if i use the theme on long lists that don't inside the rectangle the inverse bar scrolls outside the window.

what is wrong here. maybe the border coodinates are not correct if there are some ?!?

the pi

the two pictures show the situation
i can scroll down to jblackglass-1 and if i go down one further the inversbar is vanished an there is no scrolling on the left side

I'm not sure what the best approach is to fixing this, but the quickest solution I found was that I could scroll about halfway through a page, then use paged scrolling (hold A then press down/up to flip the page) and this would move my cursor to the next page I wanted.

doing some testing, I find that the biggest problem is at the end of a list, when the next page contains 3 entries or so (doing the above will bring you to the last page), or when you are dealing with a medium size list (say 16 items) you might miss 1 or 2 between the pages because the scrolling is not right.

For now that's all I know, I'll keep trying to mess with the scrolling settings until I get something that works. Hope that helps you.

for those interested, I just updated jBlackglass, the next info is now displayed properly, with scrolling. (last version had the scrolling disabled)

This thread is for WPS bugfixes, if you have an issue with my build ask about it in my thread under the unsupported builds forum.

p.s. the answer to you problem should be in the readme file. I'll assume you're using the full strength version of my build, if you want to connect to PC hold menu, then plug in the cable. If you don't like this use the lite version of the build.

With the new 30gig Fusion build for the ipod, jblackglass doesn't use the same font for the WPS. It always uses the Nimbus font. In previous versions the font would change if you changed it in the options. Help would be appreciated.

This has to do with the multifont patch.
If you open up jblackglass-xx.cfg found in the .rockbox/themes directory you'll see this:

font: /.rockbox/fonts/nimbus-14.fnt
browserfont: /.rockbox/fonts/nimbus-14.fnt
menufont: /.rockbox/fonts/nimbus-14.fnt
wpsfont: /.rockbox/fonts/nimbus-14.fnt
userfont1: /.rockbox/fonts/nimbus-14.fnt

Since these entries are defined in the .cfg, changing the font through rockbox does nothing, you need to edit the file.
hope that helps ;)

I've edited the file and the font still will not change. I'm trying to get Sazanami-Mincho-Regular-14.fnt to be the WPS font. When I edit the config file and save that is what is in there but Nimbus still shows. I've reloaded the WPS in Rockbox and it doesn't fix the problem. Help would be appreciated if you know what is wrong. I really would like Japanese file names to display.

Edit: I looked in the wrong place to update. The theme has to be updated, not just the WPS.

Edit: Yea this really sucks... I can't reset it or put the original Apple firmware on it or put fresh copy of Rockbox on there...

HELP!

Thanks

First of all, wrong thread to post in. Second, Reset your iPod and as soon as the Apple comes up, press and hold Center and Play and it'll go into emergency disk mode. Then you can fix whatever you want.

First off: awesome build EvilG. Flat out awesome. jClix with album art and all the other goodies? Very nice.

Anyway, I'm not sure if it's just me, but on jClix the Date/Time/Battery bar on Now Playing seems to jump around in size, leaving pixels on the screen from where the larger size was when it switches to the smaller size. This seemed the most appropriate place to post.

Edit: D'oh! Just saw this same problem posted twice in a different thread. Guess it aint just me then :)

And yosseeppii, did you read about the patches included in this build? The readme clearly states that this build switches to USB charge only by default, so you need to hold Menu when plugging in the lead to put it in disk mode. There are other flavours of EvilG's build that don't include this element.
