battery dies quick

How long does Rockbox last if you disable idle poweroff, and don't play music? Battery_bench won't work for this, so you'll have to check every now and then. Put it in a screen where you can see if it's still on even with the backlight off, or put it in a screen where pressing a button won't cause the disk to spin up (menus are ideal).

I'm curious if your disk spinup is causing a voltage dip of some sort.

unfortunately i will have to wait until sunday night because for some reason the computer i am using freezes when i connect my mp3 player, and when i use the dual boot feature to boot into the iriver firmware, it will not boot back into rockbox, even if i reset it, the only way it will boot intorockbox is if i delete the 'OF.mi4' file and remeove all the iriver system files
