Tags not displaying right

I have 80gb  5.5 ipod.

Rockbox works fine..except that sometimes it displays the song/artist/album as random letters.  To fix it I have to re-index all the songs in the playlist I want to play (most of the times all my songs, so it takes awhile)

Is this normal?  Or is it just because its the 80 gb I'm using?

*edit* I didn't see the post below me when I posted this, but it still seems to be two different problems.  Songs DO display right.  But they randomly (sometimes when the ipod is off, or charging) seem to lose the ability to read the tags and just display letters.

Am I right when I thingk that you are using iTunes to sync your music?
If so it seems that it sometimes shows the filename instead of the tag.
