H120 new release -> codec failure
« on: May 25, 2007, 03:24:38 AM »
Hi guys, I have just flashed my h120 with the newest build and now I keep getting "codec failure" messages whatever I try to do.  :-\
Anyone who can help me?

And something else I would like to know, do you have any idea why the connection with my new notebook running on MS Vista is so slow (about 1.5mb/s)? That's definately not USB 2.0 speed.

Thanks a lot,
Julian

Windows Vista is well known for having slow file transfers, Microsoft has received a lot of complaints on this issue.

As for the codec failure message, what steps, exactly, did you take?

Ah, well then you didn't flash anything. What bootloader version are you using?

oh hold on, maybe you just mean the number its shows during booting? Thats 5.

Okay, you need to install the latest bootloader. Instructions for this are in the Rockbox manual. AFTER the bootloader is installed, you'll see a file called rockbox.iriver in the root of your player. There's also one in the .rockbox folder. Delete the one that is NOT in the .rockbox folder, but only do this after you've updated your bootloader.
