WPS controls not working - iPod 80GB
(1/1)
FrankieF:
Hi all,
just hope I'm in the right spot to report this problem... if not, just let me know where to go and I'll hapilly oblige!
I've been very thrilled to see that the iPod 80GB disk handling problems were resolved and decided to give Rockbox a try at long last.
Install was smooth once I got the correct bootloader in and the latest Rockbox build copied on the drive, a big, big, thank you to all those that, together, got this sorted out.
I'm still getting to terms with the change in interface, playing around with the FW or trying new themes, but one thing I can't seem to get to work are the play controls while playing a song, i.e pause/play, next and previous.
The only things that I can do while playing are set the volume, go back to the main menu and, sometimes but not always, get in the contect menu.
Am I doing something wrong? Are these controls activated through some obscure setting? Is my iPod faulty? Everything works as expected with the Apple FW.
Additionally, I use a Belkin FM transmitter for the car, and the iPod does not output to it when playing. Is this supposed to be supported? I have tried to enable car adaptor mode, to no avail.

check if you enabled the setting "party mode".

Rockbox doesn't support any accessories (yet). If that transmitter is powered by the ipod and it needs to be enabled somewhere then that's all (and it shouldn't be too hard to add this, unfortunately the Ipod's main chip itself is undocumented), everything that uses e.g. the Apple Accessory Protocol will be much harder.

Ah Ah! Sure enough, I did. Don't know why, but I did. I wasn't aware of this feature of party mode (makes sense, though). At least, now that I have the FW running here, it's going to be easier to go through the manual again.
I knew it had to be something stoopid, thanks a bunch!

From what I see, this is a very simple and cheap adaptor, so I would suppose it just needs to be powered on and then automatically broadcasts what's received through the dock adaptor.

If your Belkin unit is not listed on http://www.rockbox.org/twiki/bin/view/Main/IpodAccessories please add it to the wiki so that others might benefit from your experience. If you don't feel comfortable doing this please PM me all the relevant details (see the wiki page for the fields we want filled in) so that I might update the wiki.

Actually I got it wrong and I don't know why I made the error. Mine's a Griffin iTrip Dock, which is listed as unsupported. I guess that means the FW does not know how to turn it on...
Thanks for the link!
