stuck at bootloader installation
brian_w:
Hey guys, having some trouble installing Rockbox on my first-gen iPod Nano from a Mac machine. Every time I run ipodpatcher.dmg, I get the error "No ipods found, aborting". However, my iPod is in disk mode and unmounted (not ejected). Everything should work. Any ideas? Thanks in advance.
Llorean:
First off, around these forums "2G" means "2nd Generation", so please use the abbreviations listed in our posting guidelines.
Have you converted it to Fat32?
brian_w:
yeah, not quite sure why I put 2G. That was stupid, sorry. Yeah, I followed everything in the installation guide step by step.
Llorean:
Was that a "Yes, I did the extra steps to convert to FAT32", a "No, I only followed the steps in the .pdf manual and did not convert to FAT32", a "I followed something called an 'Installation Guide' which is not the .pdf manual" or a "I don't know, I just did a list of steps from somewhere and have no clue what I've done?"
Your answer was quite unclear.
knight4led:
The current Wiki page just points you at the manual and the information on formatting in FAT32 is no longer available on that page. I have personally checked the 5g manual and it is not in there, so I assume the same is true for other iPods.
