Ill make this short and sweet. Im new to mp3 players and i am trying to identify the players i am thinking of buying. Im looking at Toshiba because right now their hard drive players are dirty cheap.
Since i dont want to use the stock firmware i want to make sure i will be buying the right toshiba to work with Rockbox. The model number is Toshiba gigabeat®
MEG-F40S
(40 GB) MP3 Player.
Im assuming its an F but haha there are a few other letters in there that are mentioned in your not supported list. thanks.

MEG-F40S means "Gigabeat F40, in Silver".
It is supported.

I've ordered this exact model precisely to install Rockbox. (~£85 with delivery to the UK). It may be a few days, but I'll add any success (or failure) story if it makes the decision any easier.

My F40S arrived from the US yesterday. I gave if a full charge, then mounted it as a removable drive in Linux, followed the F40S installation instructions (a rename followed by a few unzips and a reset), and it works perfectly. Very happy.

I have this player too and  Rockbox really add value  to it. I'm still discovering every features, And after some unsuccessful tries to copying mp3 without .sat encryption, I found the best way to do so. First I loaded the rockbox firmware then I plugged it on it's cradle via 2.0 usb, As the gigabeat appears as a new hard drive in windows explorer I created a new folder call music then copy/paste all needed mp3 files and folders for fast transfer rate. No softwares was needed, no Gigabeat Room or WMP. Actually it seems the basic Gigabeat Firmware does the .sat encryption and is a real pain. Rockbox is truely a must for an enjoyable experience!!! Â
