How come everytime i try to skip through maybe 3 songs everything slows down and it takes 30 seconds to straighten itself out? I have the 5g 30gb ipod video and even if im just listening to songs the UI tends to slow down. I loaded my songs to RAM and cached the database but im pretty sure it created 2 files on my ipod that were 3.5gb each! they had weird symbols for filenames and i couldnt delete them, had to reformat so I don't want that. Any ideas?

If you have weird and huge files on the player run chkdsk /f from the windows command line. It sounds pretty much like a broken filesystem.

If you skip 3 songs there is a pretty big chance that you will trigger a buffer refill which uses the cpu a lot when reading from the disk.
