LCARS theme (240x320x16)

Hello, i'm new here.  I tried rockbox a month or so ago, and really liked it.  A few weeks after I thought i'd try my hand at making a WPS, and this is the result.  Any comments/critique would be appreciated, since this is my first attempt at making one of these things.  

Though, i'd recommend loading it on a gigabeat first before commenting, since I find that it looks better on a gigabeat than on a computer screen.  





What I dislike the most though is the font...  It just doesn't work well at smaller sizes.  It looks small and cramped, though I don't want to replace it with something else and lose the "trekkie" feel.  Anyways yeah, comments/critique is highly appreciated.

This is sweet, my only complaint (like you mentioned) is the font. Maybe you could try it with snap? Also, could you change the  'No Album Art Available' to something a bit more trekky? Like, visual transmission offline or something (sorry, I can't think of anything right now)

Still working on the font, I'm thinking of going with the font you suggested.  I'm also thinking of changing the color of some of the text... there's just too much orange for my taste.  Maybe some light and dark blue in some of the text.

Nice touch with the no-art picture, definitely makes it more trekky, plus it's not just some useless pic either, a lot of my music has no album art, and I appreciate that the space isn't wasted here. Good call on there being too much orange, I agree now that I've looked at the theme a few times. Good luck with the colors and getting a good font.

Hey there, thanks for all the support.  It really means alot and encourages me to work on this some more.  Just a quick update.  I chose a font for the static stuff (courier) and i think it looks quite nice.  It's cleaner, more readable, but the only problem is that it takes up alot of room.  Still haven't chosen a font for the dynamic text, but i guess snap is out considering how much room it takes up.  (i tried it out, but it simply takes up too much space i'm afraid... the font is too wide.)  



It looks so much cleaner with the new font, but the challenge now is trying to find a font that can fit all the info i need into the space available for the frequency, bitrate, etc. etc.  I'll probably end up abreviating some of the longer ones (such as FREQ for FREQUENCY, RATE for BIT RATE, etc. etc.)  but other than that it should be fine.  If I do that, I might be able to use snap after all... we'll see how it works.  I'll continue when I get back from work today.

Just a quick update, quickly added a pause button: when you pause, a pause button will replace the play button.

Just adding here the things I need to work on, so i don't forget them when i get back:

1. choose new font
2. fix battery meter (doesn't seem to work properly, if anyone can tell me why i'd appreciate it)
3. fix time/date (doesn't seem to want to display on my gigabeat, i get some numbers but mostly letters.)

Regarding the letters instead of time/date, it sounds like you might not be using the most current WPS syntax for the real-time clock.  I have a bunch of themes that currently exhibit this behavior.

It works in the simulator i'm using, but that's probably because the simulator is like 2 or 3 months old.

I would disagree, if it was created from scratch then it is his creation. I mean if it wassen't a direct copy. But seriously star fleet won't exist for a few more hundred years any way so what are you worrying about.
