H340 Problem with recorded files

So I recorded about 80 minutes of music at a gig I played recently, and after about 4 minutes of playback, the player freezes up, I am also unable to transfer the file via USB because after about 10 MB of transfer (the file is 187.7 MB) my computer gives me this error screen: "The Finder cannot complete the operation because some data in 'VOICE009.mp3' could not be read or written (Error code -36).

This problem happens the same way everytime.

I am using a US H340 with 1.30 EU Iriver firmware, connected to an Apple Powerbook G4 with USB2.0.

The recording settings were as follows:
Source: EXT.MIC
Bitrate: 320kbps

and I have about 17 gigs of free space left, so I don't think that's the problem.

Any Ideas?

Have you tried scanning the disk for errors?
