Help with formatting

I had my Gigabeat F40 for a while with Rockbox running on it fine. However, I recently sold it to someone who installed Gigabeat room, did some transferring, and now the player locks up after about 10 mins.

I'm going to talk them through a reformat of the unit as per Toshiba's instructions, however, will this remove Rockbox as well (as person doesnt want to use Rockbox)?

Any help would be appreciated.
