Way to use BOTH ipod firmware and rockbox to read SAME MP3 files

Hey guys, is there a way to use both the ipod firmware and the rockbox firmware to both read the same files on the drive? I am not imoressed with the battery life of rockbox, but I do appreciate and love the features is has over the applefirmware.  I also know that itunes "encrypts" files...

Is there a way to transfer the mp3s so that BOTH firmwares will read the SAME FILES (not having to transfer them in itunes, and then then again with rockbox)

The only way is to use itunes to sync your iPod, and use database mode in rockbox. Music MUST be in the itunes DB for the apple OS to see it.

This does NOT WORK with the new 30g Video firmware...
all this did was CORRUPT my itunes library, and now NOTHING
will play in itunes! All movies are GONE... however, if I use rockbox firmware, the files (mp3s) are still there and playable, but are USELESS in itunes....

For rockbox (with the Database) it doesn't really matter how you transfer the files because it takes the metadata from the files directly and doesn't rely on the ItunesDB.
I have no idea if this program works well with the original firware. The last version is from 2005 and if the format of the ItunesDB changed since then it will propably not work.

foo_pod is way older then the ipod video, so thats not surprising that it doesn't work right with it.  Maybe you should use iTunes or some modern program.

Agreed, I have the same experience with my 60 gb, that is itunes files on my ipod, itunes files on pc are left fine. Dual booting seems to either not work, or work for a limited time then stop working in itunes if the ability for rebooting apple dosen't stop frst.

To bad but I suspect not rock box's fault. Firmware upgrads seem more to do with incompatibility assurance than anything else.
