USB Connect time

Since I've gotten into adding and manipulating themes I find myself frequently connecting and disconnecting my ipod from the comp. I've realized, though, that it take a loong time to connect; I'm talking about 5 mins avg and sometimes more. I would understand that it takes long to process b/c of rockbox's presence but I think this is excessive. Is time delay something just affecting me? Is there anything I can do about it?

You could try shutting down first before you connect, once the iPod is off, it should automatically turn on into disk mode when you connect the USB

No, I'm running Windows XP. I do have an alternate shell (Talisman) but it's never posed any sort of problem, including connect time for the ipod. When I plug in the ipod it goes into disk mode, displaying the "do not disconnect" screen but its from that point that it takes a while to register in the computer.

Then I'd say it's your PC causing the problem and not rockbox, rockbox has nothing to do with the iPod's disk mode so it could not be rockbox causing the problem (just clarifying, you never really said if rockbox was the problem or not)

p.s. Can't tell you what the problem is, do you have itunes open? maybe you need to tell itunes to behave itself when you plug in your iPod (i.e. tell it not to open automatically).

An easy way would be to just disable autorun, but that would disable all the autorun stuff, not just your ipod
