I'm sure this sort of info is on the wiki and in the manual.
The file you downloaded is a zip file, extract it to the root of your iPod with winzip, winRAR or 7zip
(i.e. F:\ if your iPod is drive F:\)
you should then be able to select the theme by menu > settings > browse themes

If this doesn't work try this:
extract the archive to a folder on you PC. Inside (either directly inside or one or 2 directories in) there should be a set of folders named backdrops, fonts, themes, wps. Copy these folders into the folder called .rockbox on your iPod

Yea, when you disconnect it reloads rockbox and it displays that screen while rebooting. Once it's done starting up (if you did it right) you should be able to goto Settings > Browse Themes and find your .wps file there. Load it up and there ya go!

I've waited for 5 min, then switched the hold switch on, and came up with the black screen saying Rockbox boot loader, then a few lines down said error.

oh, eesh, I'm not sure. I use a 5G and the nano may be diff but is I put on the hold sdwitch when rebooting it loads the original ipod firmware. Try resetting (hold menu+select) and leave the hold switch off.

Well first, you really shouldn't install alternate firmwares if you're going to freak out and spam their boards when something goes wrong.

Second, try telling us what the error message says, as that makes it actually possible to help, instead of trying to guess what went wrong.

Okay, hold Menu+Select until the screen clears. Immediately turn on the hold switch and leave it on until you're in the apple software.

Then, go back to the manual and do section 2.2.3. You didn't do all the steps of the install process properly. You need to do them exactly as they're written.

Well, when you click on the picture of an iPod Nano, it links to a .zip file, so your browser should just ask you if you want to download it...

let me get this straight, when you said theme, you meant rockbox? rockbox is firmware (which is themeable) not a theme itself.

The manual is your friend.

And using a descriptive subject line saying what you're inquiring about/need help with will get more people to enter the thread, to help you.
