Battery life
« on: May 18, 2007, 03:38:02 PM »
I just bought a 30gig ipod video about 2 weeks ago...
I have used ROCKBOX exclusively for that period of time...

However, it seems the battery does not last long at all
(backlight OFF, eq OFF, etc..etc..etc..) as compared to
what it says on the box (12+ hours using apple firmware)

I am wondering how this program compares in battery usage to the applefirmware?  I like rockbox, but it seems I am constantly having to charge my ipod daily (as opposed to every 2-3 days) as with my mini it was only infrequently.

comments/suggestions/feedback?

Yes Rockbox consumes the battery faster than the original firmware.  There is no need for the angry face though...

Maybe a stupid question. But isn't it possible to use the patch FS#7036 - Sansa: Increase battery runtime also for iPODs? afaik the iPODs also use the PP502x, so is disabling of ATA/LCD possible via the same commands?
Is it possible to switch off/on ATA, if a HDD is connected (like it is to an iPOD Video)?

I think is possible, they have the same thing ATA/LCD  ;) ,so if theres a problem it might be easy to pass,is just to do some quirks and that's all..
