Rockboy + music? ( with emu.c?)
« on: May 16, 2007, 01:52:19 PM »
Hello,
I found this link http://svn.rockbox.org/viewvc.cgi/trunk/apps/plugins/rockboy/emu.c?view=log&pathrev=13199
and i really don't know, how to use this and if it work on ipods. (Do they have IRAM macros?)
Could you please tell me, if this is useable?
Thank you in advance

It's in SVN, and it's currently only enabled for Gigabeats. You'd have to compile your own build, and I don't know of the iPods use IRAM macros or not for Rockboy.

It's not a patch. You'd have to look at the code, and see where it's enabled for the Gigabeat, and figure out what you need to change so that it's also enabled for your player, then see if it works.

It's very unlikely to, the iPod is just barely fast enough to run gameboy games as it is, audio playback will probably ruin performance without a lot of work to make it work via dual core support.

This change was enabled for all devices.  If your device uses IRAM then playback will automatically stop and load the gameboy game.  If playback does not stop then your player does not use IRAM and you can listen to music and play games at the same time (albeit slowly on anything but a gigabeat).  I believe the IPODs do use IRAM and this code will not help you.  Until playback is moved to the second core (I don't think this has happened yet) I would not expect gameboy games to be playable while music is happening especially if you disable the IRAM usage on the ipods.
