I think I may have the wrong version of Rockbox
« on: May 15, 2007, 12:01:31 AM »
Hi. I just received an iMod from Vinnie a few days ago and downloaded some version of Rockbox.

I think I have the wrong version of Rockbox, because the version I have is quite buggy. Crashes often and after a couple hours of play, the sound only comes out of the left channel which is strange.

Can someone please post a direct link to a proper stable version of Rockbox for Vinnie's iMod which is a 4th Gen iPod Photo?

I would really appreciate it. Thanks :)

First off, there is no "stable" version of Rockbox for the iPods. It hasn't been released yet.

Secondly, 4th Generation iPods have a known crashing problem caused by CPU scaling, which is most likely whats causing the problems you have with crashing. Try compiling a build with cpu scaling disabled to avoid that, or find a precompiled build in the unsupported builds forum.

As for the sound in the left channel, could this be a failure in the modified hardware? Nobody else has reported this.
