Patching Doom

I see all these things about patching the Rockbox builds, but I'd like to know how to patch the doom files. I have a nice scroll patch for my ipod 5.5g 30gb. What would i need to patch it? If it helps, I've installed cygwin, and i do have the file.

svn co svn://svn.rockbox.com/rockbox/trunk rockbox

put the patch file in the proper folder (rockbox/apps/plugins/doom)

type : patch < patch_file.patch

and you are ready for compiling ;)

I have absolutely no idea how to use bash, so I might need baby steps here.
it says command svn not recognized. is there anything else i need to install on the cygwin program?

oops, my bad! It must get tiring listening to people who dont follow directions? any way, ill try it now, and i might have a few more questions later.
