ipod video 30g - Back light stays on while connected
(1/1)
simoo:
Hi,
First of all I want to say a massive thank you for rockbox, I really appreciate being able to listen to flac on my ipod.
One thing though, when my pod is plugged into the usb port (in the 'do not disconnect' state) the back light stays on. Is this meant to happen?
Can I turn it off?
Thanks again
Yotto:
It is not (At least, it doesn't on mine) but that's not a Rockbox thing, it's an Apple thing. When you're connected in "usb mode" (where you can transfer files and it says "Do not disconnect") you're actually in Apple's firmware.
As I've never actually used Apple's firmware except to see what it looks like, I don't know if perhaps there's some sort of setting you can set there. But, if there is a setting, that's where it'll be.

Thanks for that, I did actually just update Apple's firmware too... seems a strange thing to happen though.
Cheers for the info :)
Vortex:
The Sansa original firmware does the same. I suspect that this increases the charging time of the battery (because the backlight draws additional energy while charging) but I don't know whether it is true.
