'Static' problem when moving between tracks

(1/1)

patwa:
I've noticed this problem has developed sometime in th elast couple of weeks.  Sometimes, when I'm moving through tracks in a folder whilst listening to them, by pressing the 'next' button on my iPod video, a track will start, play for 2-3 seconds and then a sound that I can only describe as static noise, similar to that you used to get on old-style television when the channel went out of focus is heard.  I can press the 'next button to go to the next track and all's fine again, until the static on a track several tracks later.  It's totally random, and whereas it's not too annoying, it can hurt my ears if I'm listening at high volume, and suddenly a new track starts, 2-3 seconds and then the sudden static noise.

I'm not the best programmer in the world, but maybe it's something to do with the play buffer not emptying quickly enough? So sometimes not enough of the new track is loaded into memory and hence the static as there is nothing to play.  Is that making any sense?

I'd think if the play buffer was the issue then it would would stop or skip since its digital in nature.

Do you have any of the Graphic EQ setting enabled, I know some some setting on the graphic EQ will cause static and crackling when used on my Iriver H10, so I dont use them.
