Playing self-encoded files with mpegplayer
(1/1)
Vortex:
Hi everyone,
I was trying out the mpegplayer plugin on my new Sansa. First I tried the sample "Elephant's Dream" movie clip which played fine. The video was slow at some parts, but the frameskip kept the audio and video in sync. It worked (almost) perfect.
I then tried to convert some of my own videos using mencoder and the commandline posted in the wiki.
This is what I used to convert my files:
--- Code: ---mencoder [file] -of mpeg -oac lavc -lavcopts acodec=mp2:abitrate=192 -af resample=44100:0:0
-ovc lavc -lavcopts vcodec=mpeg2video:vbitrate=469 -vf scale -ofps 15 -zoom -xy 224 -o output.mpg
--- End code ---
I tried different frame- and bitrates but I'm always experiencing the same problem. The audio and video are perfectly in sync for a short time, then the video suddenly takes some huge leaps ahead of the audio. Then the video becomes very laggy since it has to wait for the audio to catch up. Once they are in sync again it will stay like this for some time, but eventually the video will skip ahead again.
It looks like the video suddenly skips 2 seconds or so ahead.
The files play perfectly fine on my computer, though.
Since the sample video played fine, I'm almost sure that I'm doing something wrong while encoding.
Any ideas? ???

I recommend you to use WinFF to encode videos,
Winff http://biggmatt.com/winff/downloads/winff-version-0.29.html
and use the xml file to override WinFF's xml : http://www.rockbox.org/twiki/pub/Main/PluginMpegplayer/presets.xml
