gigabeat sat files
bobisnew:
I'm not sure if this goes here, but since it designated for toshiba....
I have installed rockbox before, but uninstalled b/c i didn't have time to mess around and learn it
I have time now and wanted to know if there is a way make rockbox read the files already on there, it is the f40, and is completly filled with 40gigis of music and some pics, i dont really have an external harddrive, and the laptop i use is not enough, but i can use my sisters cpu which has a ton of space. If I transfer my music via media player, only way for mp3s i know of, its gonna take days (1.1usb), is there a way rockbox can read the files in 2.0, whether it converts from sat to mp3 or not? Thanks alot.
Nate!:
I don't think anyone is going to implement the reading of the .sat encryption. Â You'll have to just go through the copy process. Â In case you need a step by step, there's one on the Gigabeat Port Page here:

Don't use WMP to transfer your files. I think if you just do a direct USB connection to the mini B port on the device that it attaches via USB 2.0. I seemed to get pretty snappy transfer times when I copied my music over.

If I recall correctly, you must use WMP if you want to remove the SAT encryption. And if you use WMP, you are stuck at USB 1.1 speed.
Chronon:
Okay. That makes sense. I never mucked around with WMP and I installed Rockbox immediately upon getting my Gigabeat so I have no .SAT files to muck around with either.
