This isn't an audio playback issue; it should probably be moved to Plugins/Viewers.

The processor can't quite decode quickly enough for real time video.  Do you have 'frame skip' set to on?  I haven't had my 5g iPod for a little while so I'm not sure of the current state of affairs on that target.  The basic problem is that it has the largest LCD to update and still only the same processor as the nano.  Needless to say it will have the most lag when decoding video (amongst the iPod targets).

I just got a new Gigabeat F40 and it runs like a champ.  Video appears to be full speed and EQs and peak meters have not caused skipping so far.

Rockbox is not iPod (Thankfully).

The iPod has a chip in it we don't use becuase there's no available documentation.  Apple (who built the iPod) has the documentation so they can use that chip and get more out of the iPod.

If you turn frame skip on, it will drop some frames to keep the video in sync with the audio.

thats not very helpful though, i have the same problem, the frames are slow anyway. it will play slower no matter what, the video is always out of sync, just skipping far ahead to keep up with the audio.

How recent is your build, your bootloader and wich settings/program did you use for encoding the video?

I'd guess you're using an out-of-date bootloader. If it's not that, than I don't have a clue what's wrong.
