Gigabeat LED's

Does anyone know if it is possible to change the LED's on the side of the gigabeat (lighting up the volume, menu, A button, ect.)?

Also

I use a gigabeat F20. Would it be possible to take a hard drive from a F40 or F60 and replace it? Do the F40 and F60 use a battery with a larger charge compacity than the F20?

I don't know what you mean by "change the LED's".

The F20 can only fit a 1.8" HD that is single platter.  The F40 and F60 IIRC used double platter HD's which are thicker, though the F41 used a single platter HD, so they exist.

I mean change LED's as literally as possible. I want to take out the LEDs that are in there which are blue, and replace them with red ones.

Unfortunatly for me, Gigabeat F41's are not that popular.

I guess there would be no reason why you couldnt change the LED's assumin you had smd solder skill and could actually get to them.

There's no chance of changing those LEDs, I opened my gigabeat to look at them, and found out they're tiny surface-mount LEDs, about 1.6mm across and 0.5 mm wide.

That doesn't mean "no chance", just that it's hard. I've changed surface mount LEDs before and if you have a good iron, good soldering skills, and are very patient, it can be done.

That being said, I've only done it to repair broken LEDs. I'd never risk an otherwise working device just to change the color.

I actually meant to say almost no chance, but forgot the almost. I've never tried changing surface mount LEDs before, so I wouldn't know how hard it is, but my soldering iron is a cheap Radio Shack one with a bent tip, so I wouldn't be able to do it., plus I'm terrible at soldering anything surface mount.
