Unfunctional iPod
« on: May 09, 2007, 03:51:02 PM »
I installed rockbox a week ago on my 5.5 g ipod. It worked pretty well, and  showed off how I could do some pretty neat stuff on it. Last night, I was listening to it and i turned it off (or at least I think i did) and i left it on my table.

In the morning, i tried to turn it on, but it would not work. The screen remained blank. I tried the menu+select button shortcut but that wouldnt work either. I even tried disk mode, and that didnt change anything.

When i plugged it into the computer, it would not charge. It remained a black blank screen. I once again tried to enable disk mode and it still wouldnt work. The screen just remained black. Last time I used it, the power was at full. I tried multiple times to plug in my ipod and the ipod seems like it doesnt turn on or anything.

I tried then to remove the rockbox software, but unfortunately, the computer didnt recognize the iPod, so I couldnt go into it. I tried diskmode again, and the ipod didnt turn on, and the computer didnt recognize it. Ive tried it in a windows and mac computer, and both do not recognize my ipod's existance.

Now im left with an ipod that wont turn on, wont recharge, and I cant locate it through my computer. Im really stumped on what to do now. Is there anyone that knows the solution to this problem? Is my iPod battery fried or something?

Please do not say things like "press the select+menu button" because ive already tried that like, 20 times. If anyone knows this problem, or how to fix it, or what I can do to fix it, then email me at thegoldbar@gmail.com

Thx for reading and taking time for my problem. I greatly appreciate it.

Please do not post the same thing in multiple places. If you feel you've put it n the wrong place, remove your old post or ask a moderator to move it.

Did you also hold both buttons down long enough? It takes several seconds, that time varies and I already heared of people that got times of about 30 seconds or so. Additionally, flipping the hold switch on and off again first seems to make a difference in some cases (never had that myself though).

I once hat the issue that the ipod wouldn't turn on, resetting seemed to not change anything but pressing select after the reset made it come up.
