Rockbox supports MP4 music (AAC and ALAC). It's just the DRM part that isn't supported.

what is DRM and the program that was mentioned earlyer will remove it....i just need to know what it is

DRM is the "Digital Rights Management" to restrict the use of your bought music like you want. So the Apple DRM denies the music to be used on players of other firms, to copy it too much and so on.

It's illegal, but there's pretty much no chance of getting caught.

Most of my music was ripped in iTunes (before I heard of Rockbox).  Most of them are 128 kbps to 192 kbps .m4a files.  These all play fine through Rockbox.  I have never dealt with DRM, so I won't comment about that.
