Rockbox wont start on my ipod

I extract rockbox on to my 5th generartion 30g video ipod, do the boot loader run the program after dowloading it then run it then press enter then when it says press enter to exit i press enter. no error code comes up anywhere. and check the h drive and rock box is in there but when i try to turn rockbox on it doesnt work it does the loading screen with the apple in the middle and goes back to the main menu for the ipod not rockbox. I gave it to a guy at my school and the same thing happended to him and hes done it many times for differnt peoples ipod.

- how did you install Rockbox?
- how did you install the bootloader?
- were there any error messages during the installation?
