Gigabeat for blind users
« on: May 07, 2007, 07:26:27 PM »
We just bought a whole bunch of Gigabeats which we gave out to our blind clients.  They are having difficulty with the FF and Rewind buttons that they are changing to other files if they don't hold it down long enough.  Is there any way to make them not move between files.

Also, when they tap too long on the center button, it brings up the menu when they were trying to just pause the playing.  Is there something we can do about this?

Thanks,
Ed

The only thing you can do is edit the button mappings in the source code and compile your own build. The editing should be pretty simple once you find the right file.

Can someone please tell me where to download the code from and possibly where the button mappings are?  Also, how do I compile the code?  I'm ready to play with it.

Thanks, Ed

Look thought the "For Developers" section of the wiki. It has complete instructions on how to get the source code, edit it and compile it. The button map is in "trunk/apps/keymaps/keymap-gigabeat.c"
