using usb connection for charging jukebox
« on: July 17, 2005, 05:59:36 PM »
I cannot find my charging unit. So I am using usb cable now to charge my jukebox. However, there is no indication of charge completeness when the usb cable is connected. Is it possible to add this function?

Thanks.

As far as I know, the end-of-charge detection is the same regardless of the power source. How do you know that the battery is full?

charging in usb mode will be SLOOOOOOOW. Linus, tell me if i'm wrong, but will putting the device in screenshot mode and connecting it (not playing at the time) save battery by keeping it out of usb mode?

Yes, as Rockbox spins the disk down.

Yes, and you can use the 'USB power mode' with a recent daily build as well. Just hold F1 (recorder fm/v2) or MODE (Ondio) while plugging USB. This will bring up the menu as a side effect, but apart from that will also keep the unit out of USB mode, allowing to use it normally, or just let it charge. The usual charger icon position will show a tiny usb plug icon when in USB power mode.
