Can I play something at greater than real-time speed
« on: May 07, 2007, 01:36:09 PM »
Hi,

I was wondering if there's currently a way to playback podcasts at greater than 1x speed?

It would be nice to speed up the playback of audio files to 1.5x or even greater speed to cut down the time it takes to listen to some of them.  (Yes, I know they'll start sounding like the "chipmunks".)

I have access to either a Gigabeat F or a Sansa e200 player.

Thanks!

As usual, the Toshiba manual and the Sansa manual are your friends...

...scroll to 'pitch screen'

Thanks bascule for the gentle use of the clue-by-4!

I'd never have thought of pitch adjustment...  Doh.

I would never have thought of Pitch for it either.  I always thought that change in pitch was a result of change in speed and not vice-versa, so would have looked for "Playback Speed" instead of "Pitch"

Nice to know that's there, though.  I may listen to a couple podcasts at a faster speed.  Especially interview shows.

If anyone is interested in working on time stretching (without pitch change) this is an interesting page:
